Elaine's Olympia to Santa Fe
You all remember Elaine's tremendous exhibit from last summer....
Well, the largest painting, titled "Control" a juxtaposition of Manet's "Olympia" and the disturbing and fabulous "A Day's Work" by Philip Guston was ready to be delivered to its new home in Santa Fe this week.
I decided to deliver it myself over the weekend knowing I would sleep better having passed it off safe and sound to the VERY delightful Bill Reinhardt, a professor of chemistry, who is all tickled giggles about adding this piece to his thoughtful and significant collection.
And also---thank the lucky stars for offseason to refill the cup--- see the new art space, Meow Wolf, the newest, coolest allegorical installation in a repurposed bowling alley south of the city center. You simply must see it. Meghann and Julya, take your kids too--not that it's a kids place. I got "lost" in there for 3 hours. I missed dinner at the hotel. It was that good. I am intrigued and inspired by raw creativity that has completely infused Santa Fe with new exciting energy. I am totally excited and energized!
As I drove into Telluride I had the most satisfying feeling that Olympia was safe in her home, a very good home on Canyon Road, and will be appreciated for all she is and all life is; the good, the bad, the ugly, the "Control" and all the rest.
That is one powerful woman.
