Gallery 81435 Exhibit Featuring:
Jonas Fahnestock and Goedele Vanhille
Family Juxtaposed
Gallery 81435 in Telluride, Colorado will be featuring the work of mother and son duo, Goedele Vanhille and Jonas Fahnestock for their show Family Juxtaposed on display through February 2020.
Goedele Vanhille was introduced to clay as a kid and studied ceramics in art school. She has thrown pots, smashed pots, made intimate pieces and monumental work, has raw-glazed pots and subjected pots to multiple firings, built kilns, fired kilns, and still feels the same joy and excitement working with clay as when she first touched the material. Goedele’s work is organic, full, and rich with curves and emphasis on natural form.
Goedele’s son, Jonas Fahnestock was born in Gent, Belgium and grew up in Norwood, Colorado. Jonas has been drawing and exploring his creative side since youth, but his true artistic focus was spawned through his education at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. His inspiration pulls from the natural world, architecture, and the ever-present dialogue between chaos and order. He strives to see subjectively in order to make sense of the world around him. Objectively, he is able to fragment and simplify. A face becomes a series of shapes given value by light. In much the same way, the wing of a bird is manifested as a series of triangles caught in flight. Thus, the pencil becomes a tool to deconstruct and decompose vision. Through the act of drawing, complex form is broken down into a series of intricate and comprehensive angles and measurements. This impartial quantification becomes a personal meditation. It unites the hand, the medium, and the eye to meld visual identity and personal expression. Ink and water then fix the fleeting lines into a solid and permanent body: organized chaos
The show runs through February 2020 at Telluride Arts HQ Gallery, located at 135 W Pacific in Telluride, Colorado. Open daily from 12-6pm or by appointment.
