The Palm Arts Classic Cinema Series celebrates the art of cinema with the 50th anniversary showing of the films of 1969. First up is the western film classic, True Grit. Directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Kim Darby and John Wayne as U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn a drunken, hard-nosed U.S. Marshall helping a stubborn teenager track down her father’s murderer in Indian territory. Wayne won his first and only Oscar for his role in True Grit.
Filming for True Grit took place in Ouray County, Montrose County, and the towns of Ouray and Ridgway Colorado. The courtroom scenes were filmed at Ouray County Courthouse.
