Photography, time is your canvas.
Heading out on a photo shoot, the camera roll freshly formatted.
Blank... then life happens,
Frantically you try to capture the story on your sensors as
The dazzling display of light, colors, and emotions, sing of patterns, lines, and space.
Not blank now and neither is my life.
Growing up in the Front Range of Colorado in a loving and supporting family, creativity and the outdoors was never far away from Michael Mowery. He has always been interested in photography, but took a different path in life and became a software engineer (aka logic poem writer). Telluride has been Michael's home since 2004, and he is inspired daily by the amazing creativity and talent here in the Telluride Arts District. A goal his in 2020 is to put more focus and energy towards Michael Mowery Media, so stay tuned!
We asked Michael a few questions:
What are you watching?
Mountainfilm is one of my favorite Telluride festivals, so I will try and watch as many films I can over the next week or so. If you ever wanted to "go to" the Telluride Mountainfilm festival, here is your chance to watch if virtually.
What are you reading?
I am embarrassed to admit that I've never been to Hogwarts, but I joined Harry on Platform 9 3/4 and I am thoroughly enjoying the adventure. I'm currently on Book 3 of the Harry Potter series, so no spoilers, please.
What are you listening to?
For my day job, I am a software developer, so when I am working, I need to listen to music without words, which includes artists like Bonobo, Peter Kater, Ryan Teague, and Federico Albanese.
Otherwise, my mixtape includes (but is not limited to) artists Dire Straits, Judah and the Lion, Peter Gabriel, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Simon & Garfunkel.
Any projects you're currently working on?
Back in 2016, I took a short course with Telluride TV on Video Shooting/Editing. The result of that course was "Telluride has a Beaver Pond". It has been on my to-do list since then to do a reboot of that project. I am currently spending a lot of time at the Beaver Pond, so much so that many of my friends have threatened some "beaver intervention".
I also have quite a few entrepreneurial project ideas (sigh), but I keep seeing other shiny things.
What has changed for you? (besides the obvious)
Let me first start off with what has NOT changed. Monday - Friday, I still get up at 8 am and get on video conference call for work.
Otherwise, I have been really enjoying the cooking that has been taking place.
The thing I miss the most is traveling outside my county of San Miguel. Visiting family and friends in the Front Range was a typical April and May activity.
