The 8’x8’ mural celebrates immigrants, keeping families together, and breaking down all walls in the process. The piece was painted live over two days as part of 2018 Art + Architecture Weekend! It still lives on the back wall of the Transfer Warehouse!

The 8’x8’ mural celebrates immigrants, keeping families together, and breaking down all walls in the process. The monarch butterfly has become a symbol of migration as it travels from central to North America over serval generations. The piece was painted live over two days as part of 2018 Art + Architecture Weekend, and sparked fruitful conversation with a variety of folks.
Rose Jaffe is an illustrator and portrait artist born, raised, and currently residing in Washington, DC. She studied printmaking and drawing at the School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. She teaches at Parkmont School in northwest DC and believes in expanding the role art plays in shaping creative minds through education.
