WAGNER CUSTOMER 2020 ARTIST SERIES

GALLERY 81435 | DECEMBER 2019 - JANUARY 2020

Wagner Custom Skis, Telluride Arts District, and Boulder Creative Collective are proud to present the Wagner Custom 2020 Artist Series at Gallery 81435 December 2019 through January 2020. There will be a special holiday Art Walk opening reception on December 19, 2019, 5-8pm. Also join us on January 2, 2020, 5-8pm for the first First Thursday Art Walk of 2020.

Each year Wagner Custom Skis builds hundreds of custom skis for people all over the world. Each ski varies in length, width, sidecut, tip/tail shapes, rocker/camber profiles, and is made up of a different combination of handpicked materials with diverse stiffness and flex patterns. But, what makes each ski even more special to its owner is the unique topsheet they choose. This is where Telluride Arts and the Boulder Creative Collective get to join in the fun. This year’s “Artist Series” ski designs have been curated by four different Colorado artists, each personalized with their distinctive art.

Wagner Custom holds a strong vision for collaboration with working artists, nonprofit arts organization, and art agencies to support the creative communities of Telluride, CO and beyond. The featured artists include Danielle DeRoberts, Reed Weily, Lindee Zimmer, and Sarah Kinn.

Danielle DeRoberts' (onerary) unique technique of embroidering paintings and back lighting creates textured pieces that spring to life. Formerly of Telluride, Danielle has moved to Boulder, CO for a year-long residency with the Boulder Creative Collective.

Sarah Kinn began this year of painting attempting to break out of old patterns and re-examining assumptions about her beliefs, habits, and work. She has labeled herself as a colorist and loves mixing paint and putting colors next to each other on a canvas. Sarah was born in Ohio and lives in Boulder.

Reed Weily is fascinated with nostalgia, obsolete technology and ephemera from the late 20th century. A self-taught artist, his influences include 1980s and 1990s popular culture. Reed was born in Colorado and resides in Denver.

Lindee Zimmer draws inspiration off the patterns in leaves, paints the vibrations of love, and sketches the frivolous buoyancy that brought her to search for art in the first place. Lindee was born in Boulder and currently lives in Denver.

“It’s an honor to be able to blend art and skiing,” said Wagner CEO & Founder Pete Wagner. “Icing on the cake is being able to watch people’s reactions to the skis, they truly love the creativity.” The show runs thru January 2020 at Gallery 81435, located at 230 S Fir Street in Telluride, Colorado. Open daily from 12-6 pm, or by appointment.
