Once again, it is Spring. The time between. The mud, the blooms, the light. What is Spring like for you? What does it sound like? What does the air feel like? Smell like? How is your sleep? Your stomach? Do you miss winter? Do you wish it was already summer? What is the color of spring for you? If green, what type? Chlorophyll? Kiwi? Ripe?
In this workshop we will write towards the transition of springtime. The bird songs and pollen wind. The later dinner times, the social invitations, the unbundling of clothes, the freak snow storms. We will look towards some spring poems by some favorite poets and then dive into the writing, from the pause of winter to the fever of spring.
Pre-workshop prompt (should you wish to come with some material): Go outside, find a seat or perch and one "natural" object (ie a tree, a section of river, a bird, etc) describe the object as it really is, unpoetically! No metaphors, no comparisons or hyperbole. Just how your own mind and perception sees it. Write out 5-10 of these "facts" and bring them to the workshop!
Ex. an oak tree 1. the tree is 20 ft high 2. the bark is peeling 3. there is a squirrel scurring a branch 4. the leaves are brushing a fence 5. the tree leans to the left
