The Body Electric
Inspired by Walt Whitman’s 1855 Poem and Florence Scovel Shinn’s 1928 book, Your Word Is Your Wand—The Body Electric is a constellation of shows mixing classical and contemporary, science and spirituality, technology and humanity. It features light art, figurative art, and their intersections—asking its viewers to meditate on the idea of humanity, embodiment, and our unique light. Winning proposals will become part of Telluride Arts’ 2021 exhibition schedule in Telluride Arts HQ Gallery, a contemporary art space in the heart of beautiful Telluride, Colorado. Please refer to the following parameters and guiding questions as you formulate your proposal.
Guiding Questions
What is an electric body?
How is light art and figurative art timely in today’s Covid-19 climate?
How are you inspired by the dichotomies of classical & contemporary, science & spirituality, technology & humanity.
Parameters:
In this juried exhibition, artists will submit new work, created around the idea of The Body Electric. Telluride Arts defines “art” broadly and invites artists of all mediums to submit a proposal.
Judges: Christopher Ho, Kate Jones, Britt Bradford
