DIANA NYAD LUNCHEON IN THE WAREHOUSE

On Sept. 2, 2013, at the age of 64, Diana Nyad became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage, swimming 110 miles in 53 hours from Havana to Key West. In the 1970s, she became known as the world’s greatest long distance swimmer with her open-water achievements, including a record-breaking swim around Manhattan. For the next 30 years, Nyad was a prominent sports broadcaster and journalist, filing compelling stories for National Public Radio, ABC’S Wide World of Sports, and others. She is the author of the upcoming memoir, Find a Way, and three other books. She is also a national fitness icon, a talented linguist, and one of today’s most powerful and engaging public speakers. Diana and Bonnie Stoll created EverWalk- a vision to inspire a million people to get up, get out into the magnificent outdoors, talk with each other and adventure along new corridors through walking. This fall, iconic endurance athlete and captivating motivational speaker Diana Nyad invited guests to join her in Telluride to be a part of a walking initiative that’s been spreading across the country.

Tel ski scheduled a luncheon on Saturday September 22nd of this weekend in the Transfer Warehouse.Attendees had the opportunity to choose between a 3 mile, 6 mile and 10 mile walk (down the valley floor) on the gorgeous fall morning before the luncheon. The walk concluded with a catered lunch by the young local catering company, Pandora Catering. This connection between Pandora Catering and Lynne from Telski was evidently a huge success as far as local connection goes. In meeting, Lynn offered several other jobs to Pandora Catering. Chef Elena and Chef Steve were on sight throughout the event and provided a locally sourced lunch paired with iced beverages. The event was an intimate crowd of about forty people.
