“A new work joins the ranks of great San Francisco films,” wrote the Hollywood Reporter, “A fresh and original story of two outcasts in a city where they grew up, but which has changed dramatically, Joe Talbot’s debut feature powerfully ponders the question of whether you can go home again once you’ve lost it.”

Produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B, the film won Best Director and a Special Jury Prize at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.  Directed by Joe Talbot (his feature directorial debut), a native San Franciscan, the film is based on a story written by Talbot and his best friend Jimmie Fails and is built around Jimmie’s own life (he also plays a version of himself in the film).

In an attempt to search for home in a city that seems to have left him behind, Jimmie undertakes the odyssey of reclaiming the old Victorian in the Fillmore District where he spent his childhood.  This extraordinarily poignant journey is backed by a stunning score from Emile Mosseri which “gives the film an extra layer of poetry and transcendence. It expresses the way Jimmie feels about his old house and his city,” reported NPR, “This film that sounds like virtually no other in 2019.”
